Terms: This is a temporary, part time job, which requires working days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be negotiated and depends on the skills and experience of the applicant.

Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: is an asset.

Credentials required: The applicant should have First Aid Certificate.

Work Setting: Community service organization

Area of Counselling Specialization: Anger management, Anxiety/panic, Assertiveness training, Behaviour disorders, Conflict resolution, Childhood and adolescent issues, Mediation, Personal growth and self-development, Sexual abuse and trauma recovery, Stress management, Substance abuse, Crisis intervention

Type of Clients: Adolescents, Females, Persons with physical disabilities, Persons with mental health disabilities, Persons with learning disabilities

Specific Skills: Interview clients, Assess clients’ problems, Evaluate clients’ progress in resolving identified problems and movement towards defined objectives, Identify additional/alternative services and provide referrals, Liaise with communities, Facilitate groups, Teach life skills

Additional Skills: Use computer applications

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Work under pressure

Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is available

Essential Skills: Reading text, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Computer use

Other Information: Term Ends July 2010. Degree in Social Work, Community Studies, or equivalent. Demonstrated experience working with abused women, knowledge of abuse & its affects.
