Salary: will be $10.50 to $11.50 per hour for a 30 hour week. Education: The applicant should have completed high school, completed college or technical training, completed university. Experience: at least a full year’s experience. Credentials required: The applicant should have Child and Youth Care Worker (CCW/CYW) Diploma, Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma, Community Support Worker (CSW) Diploma, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate. Work Setting: Community or neighbourhood centre, Youth drop-in centre Target Groups or Clients: Children, Families Type of Community or Social Service: Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance), Early intervention programming for at-risk youth Specific Skills: Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs, Develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, Resolve conflict situations, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers, Food preparation Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is available Work Location Information: Urban area Ability to Supervise: 3-4 people, 5-10 people Essential Skills: Reading text, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Finding information, Computer use Other Information: Only those who e-mail for a complete job description before applying will be considered: youthnetdirector@eastlink.ca Interviews will be conducted as applications are received Profile: for Saint George’s YouthNet Society Saint George’s YouthNet provides free programs to youth in Halifax’s North End.
