Credentials required: The applicant should have Driver’s Licence (Class 1 or A).

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports, Dangerous goods occurrence reports

Communication Equipment Experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer), Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Plan travel schedules and routes, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Perform brake adjustments, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance

Additional Skills: Mountain driving expertise, Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers, Owner-operator business skills, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques

Security and Safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight, Valid driver’s licence
