Terms: This is a casual, part time job, which requires working days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shift work is involved.

Salary: will be $12.58 per hour for a 10 hour week.

Education: The applicant should have some college or technical training.

Experience: is an asset.

Credentials required: The applicant should have Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Medication Administration Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate.

Work Setting: Group home

Target Groups or Clients: Male, Female, Seniors, Culturally diverse groups, Street population, Persons who are deaf/hard of hearing, Persons with intellectual disabilities, Persons with physical disabilities, Persons with mental health disabilities, Persons with learning disabilities

Type of Community or Social Service: Personal and social adjustment and health (substance abuse, gambling, behaviour disorders), Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance)

Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs, Conduct follow-up assessments, Provide suicide and crisis intervention, Resolve conflict situations, Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, Implement behaviour management programs

Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Housekeeping activities, Food preparation

Security and Safety: Criminal record check

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Travel expenses not paid by employer, Public transportation is not available

Work Location Information: Work in employer’s/client’s home, Rural community

Ability to Supervise: 11-15 people
